Genetic and physiology of the adaptation team

Equipe Adaptation

Les objectifs

L’objectif de l’équipe est d’étudier les mécanismes d’adaptation des arbres forestiers aux variations de leur environnement, afin de favoriser leur ajustement à des milieux changeants. Ces mécanismes comprennent la plasticité phénotypique (réponse individuelle) et la microévolution (adaptation génétique à court terme). Les outils permettant de favoriser les ajustements sont l’amélioration génétique et la sylviculture. Les variables de l’environnement sont principalement des composantes du climat et de l’environnement physique, ainsi que des insectes et des champignons. Les caractères étudiés sont liés à la survie, reproduction, phénologie, croissance, formation du bois et qualité des arbres et du bois.

L’approche est résolument multidisciplinaire et utilise la physiologie cellulaire et moléculaire, biochimie, biophysique, écophysiologie, génétique quantitative, génétique des populations, dendroécologie, écologie, …

Les espèces

Les espèces modèles sont le douglas, le mélèze et le peuplier. Beaucoup d’autres espèces sont aussi étudiées : pin maritime, pin sylvestre, pin cembro, pin ponderosa, pin des Canaries, pin patula, cyprès de la cordillère, épicéa, sapin pectiné, robinier, hêtre, nothofagus, eucalyptus et d’autres…
